NBA: Warriors @ Rockets – Game 5 (Fri 11:05am)

Complacency and not fatigue was the reason why the Warriors dropped Game 4 at home. They opened the game with a 12-0 spurt and were up by 10 at the start of the 4th quarter. The problem… 16 turnovers and a 3 for 18 shooting performance in the final quarter. We saw them turn into Houston as the ball stopped moving and they got stuck in isolation.

Can they re-focus for Game 5…

Definitely! It may just be the wake up call they needed to realise that the Rockets have the ability to take full advantage of complacency. Harden and CP3 did their part but special mention needs to go to several other players. Gordon showed great aggression on offence while Tucker was a beast on the boards. The Warriors missed Iguodala on the defensive end and will be hoping that he, and Klay Thompson, will suit up fir Game 5.

Can Houston hold the Warriors to sub 100 points again…

Possible! It has been a very low scoring series with the Under going 3-1 and an average of just 199 points across the last two games. It is very possible that both sides fail to reach triple figures for the second consecutive game. The amount of free throws has also decreased as the series has progressed and sides have made the necessary adjustments on the defensive end.

Game 5 screams DEFENCE!

It is no secret that when a series is tied at 2-2, that the Game 5 winner claims the series over 80% of the time. As we have seen throughout the playoffs, teams lock in defensively when it matters most and after a loss. The Under is 6-1 in the Warriors last 7 and 4-0-1 in their last 5 following defeat. The Under is also 11-4 in the Rockets last 15 following a win and 15-7 in their last 22 at home. It doesn’t end there… The Under is now 7-3 in the last 10 meetings and 6-2 in the last 8 clashes in Houston.

The Wolf is expecting a huge response from the Warriors and says the Rockets will have to shoot a remarkable percentage from beyond the arc to take Game 5. Durant averaged 37.5 points in the two games in Houston and after a 9 for 24 performance look for him to go into super attack mode. Green Over rebounds will again be free money with the defensive stalwart set to again play 40+ minutes.
