NBA: Rockets @ Warriors – Game 3 (Mon 10:00am)

Houston bounced back in a big way in Game 2 but The Wolf says that there will be no panic from the Warriors. Their aim from the opening two games of the series would have been to get a split in order to gain home court advantage, and they did exactly that. The Warriors have won their last 15 home playoff games and could set a new record if they win Game 3.

This is one of several reasons why The Wolf is not buying into the Rockets 22 point win in Game 2. The Rockets ball movement improved dramatically from the series opener but The Wolf cannot see the trio of Gordon, Ariza and Tucker combining for 68 points – especially on the road. The Rockets are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 when having scored 125+ in their previous game which indicated that they will regress to the mean. They made 16 3-pointers in Game 2 and shot over 50% from the floor – a remarkable number when you take into account the facts that they had 42 attempts from beyond the arc.

Can they repeat that effort at Oracle Arena…

NO! We saw the Warriors flick the switch in Game 1 and we will see them put the hammer down in order to take control of the series. They are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 when on 3 or more days rest and back on their home court we will see the Splash Brothers shoot much better than 10 of 30.

Durant will again have his own way and it is clear that the Rockets are willing to make that sacrifice as they don’t have anyone that can guard him anyway. The Warriors have consequently turned him into a pure scorer – putting him in isolation and letting him go to work. He has scored 37 and 38 points as a result and has just a single assist. That single assist reveals that the Rockets will not double him and would rather maintain their matchups on Curry and Klay. It’s great news for punters as it means Durant will go big for a 3rd consecutive game.
