Today the Lakers look to end a 9 game losing streak while The Wolf is prepared for snail’s pace in the Blazers/Spurs clash.
NBA Feature Previews
1. Oklahoma City @ Phoenix (12:05pm)
The Thunder offence is starting to flow on all cylinders and the biggest reason is the absence of Andre Roberson. The Wolf has not been shy to let us know his thoughts on Roberson. He may be able to defend but as we have in his recent absence he completely stifles their offence. They have scored 113, 133 and 127 in the 3 games without him. His replacement Terrance Ferguson has taken full advantage of his opportunity, nailing 9 3-pointers across his last two outings. It should come as no surprise as he is a wing player that can shoot! As long as he is in the lineup The Wolf says to back the Overs in Thunder matches. He also says that the Suns will do their bit. The Overs is 16-6 in their last 22 against teams with a winning record to go with a 20-8 Over record in the last 28 meetings. Look for Westbrook to rack up the assists today with Melo, George and Ferguson to light it up from deep.
2. San Antonio @ Portland (1:05pm)
A defensive battle is something of a rarity in the NBA nowadays but The Wolf says we are in store for a throwback with this clash. The Spurs and Blazers rank 2nd and 4th respectively in terms of points allowed per game to go with 2nd and 3rd in defensive efficiency. The Spurs are on the wrong end of town when it comes to age, speed and athleticism which is why they rank 29th in possessions per game. With Gasol and Aldridge in the paint running the floor is not an option for San Antonio. The Blazers rank last in fastbreak points per game so in theory they should not go close to hitting the total. The Under is 12-3 in the Spurs last 15 games to go with 11-3 in the Blazers last 14 at home. If you like fast pace and 3-pointers early in the shot clock you will not want to tune in for this one. Unders.
3. Atlanta @ LA Lakers (1:35pm)
Things are going from bad to worse for the Lakers as the crashed to their 9th straight loss. Fatigue could be an issue for what is a young and inexperienced side with 6 their last 7 defeats coming by a margin of at least 10! They are 0-9 straight up in their last 9 at home including a stretch of 6 straight losses ATS at Staples. The Hawks on the other hand are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 following a ATS loss and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 following a double digit defeat. The Lakers as a 3 point favourite… leave me out of that says The Wolf.
