NBA Tips – 6th January

The Raptors needed OT to get past the Bucks at home a week ago. Can Giannis and the Bucks turn the tables when they meet on a freezing cold night in Milwaukee.

NBA Feature Previews

1. Minnesota @ Boston (11:05am)

How do you get a gauge on the Timberwolves… They have won 7 of their last 9 and have a 21-5 record withing their conference (best in the league). That being said, they are 4-9 against East teams and have had some bad losses with the Nets, Suns and Hornets among the teams to beat them. They seem to bring their best game when it counts. They are 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 against teams with a record above .600 and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Celtics on the other hand are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 following a win and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 following a ATS win. Both teams are coming off what The Wolf calls a premium 1 days rest. Why premium… It seem to be the real sweet-spot in terms of teams shooting % and it translates to the Over hitting at a big rate. Over is 13-4 in Celtics last 17 and 9-2 in T-Wolves last 11 when on 1 days rest. Minnesota are 5th in offensive efficiency and points in the paint. It’s a formula for a big total!

Tip: Over 210 points ($1.91)

2. Toronto @ Milwaukee (12:05pm)

The Wolf declared the Overs when they met a week ago and they blew the total out of the park midway through the 4th. The Raptors needed OT to get the ‘W’ and a win in Chicago made it 8 in their last 10. They are firing on all cylinders – the Over is 5-1 in their last 6 road games with DeRozan averaging 37.3ppg in his last 3. Giannis continues to lead the way for the Bucks and it the current leading vote getter for the All-Star Game and that means more votes than LeBron James and Steph Curry! You just don’t know what he will do next and the faster tempo being employed by the Bucks allows him to crush teams on the fastbreak. The Wolf is shocked that the bookies still haven’t adjusted to the Bucks change in pace. The Over is 16-4-1 in their last 21 and 8-1-1 in their last 10 at home. We will continue to back the Overs in Bucks games.

Tip: Over 216.5 points ($1.91)

3. Utah @ Denver (1:05pm)

The home team rules in this series – full stop! The home team is 7-0 both straight up and ATS in the last 7 meetings with 6 of those coming by a double digit margin. As good as these teams are as home, they are horrific road teams. Denver are 13-4 at home while Utah are 3-15 away. The Jazz are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games with a average losing margin of 24.5 points in that stretch. With 4 consecutive road losses of 20 points or more The Wolf is shocked to see this line set at just -6.5. He says it should be closer to 10! The Nuggets are getting contributions from all angles and will post their 4th consecutive double digit home win over the Jazz.

Tip: Denver -6.5 ($1.92)
