NBA Tips – 24th January

The Warriors return to Oracle Arena after a 5 game road trip and The Wolf says they and the Knicks will pile on the points.

NBA Feature Previews

1. Cleveland @ San Antonio (12:05pm)

Things continue to go from bad to worse for the Cavs and if there is one thing we know about coach Pop, it is that he knows exactly how to expose poor defensive teams. The Cavs are exactly that coming in at 29th in defensive efficiency. They gave up 148 points to the Thunder at home last time out and have given up 127 or more in 4 of their last 7. Consequently they are one of the worst teams ATS. They are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 against teams with a win percentage above .600 and a horrible 1-10 ATS in their last 11 road games. The Spurs on the other hand are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 at home and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 against the Cavs. This game is a flip by name not nature. Cavs should be close to 5 point favourites.

Tip: San Antonio -1.5 ($1.92)

2. New York @ Golden State (2:35pm)

The Warriors came up short down the stretch in Houston but The Wolf says not to read too much into it. It was the final game of a long 5 game road trip and they return to Oracle after some hard earned rest. They look set to have a party against a Knicks outfit that have increased their tempo. The Over is 7-0 in the Knicks last 7 and 5-0 in their last 5 road games. If the Knicks can go Over the set total in Utah and Memphis just imagine what they will to in Golden State.

Tip: Over 227 points ($1.91)

3. Boston @ LA Lakers (2:35pm)

There will be no love lost when these historic rivals face off. Despite Boston having a much better side over the last few seasons they are 5-5 over the last 10 meetings with the Lakers going 7-3 ATS in that stretch. The Celtics have been well below their best over the last week going 0-3 both straight up and ATS. The concerning part is that all three losses came at the TD Garden! The Lakers on the other hand have won 6 of their last 8 (6-2 ATS). They have really turned things on defensively and like Boston, have a 5-2 Under record in their last 7. The Unders is also 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and 10-2 in the Lakers last 12 after allowing 125 or more in their previous game. There will be plenty of defence played and that makes the Under the desired play.

Tip: Under 208.5 points ($1.91)
