NBA Tips – 18th April

Toronto and Boston look to take 2-0 leads on the road with them but for the Blazers it is all about avoiding going down 0-2 after the Pelicans sprung an upset in Game 1. The Wolf is expecting Lillard to take matters into his own hands.

NBA Feature Previews

1. Washington @ Toronto (Wed 9:05am)
If the Wizards are to turn this into a series they are going to have to get more from beyond the arc. They took it to the Raptors in Game 1 but when you are -24 from deep in the modern day NBA it is hard to win any game. What is even more concerning for the Wizards is the fact that the Raptors duo of DeRozan and Lowry were very slow out of the gate. It all translates to troublesome times ahead for the Wizards who are now 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games. One thing is for certain… Scott Brooks will put in the request for more tempo and ball movement from the back court. They looked a shadow of themselves when the game slowed in the 4th quarter and will revert to what has worked – pace. The Over is 4-0 in their last 4 against teams with a win percentage above .600 and 4-1 in their last 5 following a loss.
Best: Over 215.5 points ($1.91)
Prop: CJ Miles 3+ Made 3pt FG ($1.80)

2. Milwaukee @ Boston (Wed 10:05am)
Overtime helped the Overs salute in Game 1 as the Bucks came up just short. Antetokounmpo and Middleton combined for 66 points, 21 board and 13 assits – more than enough to get them over the line. The concern… the other starters, namely Bledsoe, Henson and Snell added just 18 points. Perimeter shooting has been the Bucks Achilles heels all season long, as have their half court sets in the closing 2 minutes. The Bucks are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 following a loss and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 against East teams. The Celtics have a significant edge when the game slows down and that will force the Bucks to get out on the break and push the tempo. Over is 8-0 in Bucks last 8, 10-1 in their last 11 road games and 13-3 in their last 16 when on 1 days rest. With the total set this low, The Wolf is backing the Overs.
Tip: Over 197.5 points ($1.91)
Prop: Multi – Antetokounmpo 30+ points/12+ rebounds ($4.70)

3. New Orleans @ Portland (Wed 12:35pm)
Anthony Davis put on a clinic in Game 1 with 35 points and 14 rebounds on 14 of 26 from the floor. The Blazers do not have an answer for him. Nurkic cannot defend him beyond the free throw line and Ed Davis does not know which way to look. The harsh reality for the Blazers is that Davis will get his, but they cannot allow Rondo to register 17 assists. His effectiveness means that Lillard will also have to play defence – a factor that is sure to affect his offensive production. It all makes the 6.5 start look significantly big, especially when you consider that the Pelicans are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 following a ATS win. The Wolf questioned whether they could handle the Moda Center noise but they did so with relative ease in the first half before allowing the Blazers to completely slow down the pace. Portland will look to play in the half court from tip off which ensures a low scoring encounter. It makes 6.5 start more like a 8.5 start!
Tip: New Orleans +6.5 ($1.92)
Prop: Anthony Davis 30+ points ($1.74)
