NBA Tips – 15th January

Wolfy went 3-0 with his feature previews yesterday and says to keep an eye out for the early games today. With only 4 games to speak of we will have to make the most of them.

NBA Feature Previews

1. New Orleans @ New York (7:35am)

It will be freezing cold in the streets of New York but The Wolf says it will be smoking hot inside MSG. The clash between the big men will be a real highlight. Porzingis and Kanter take on Cousins and Davis with The Wolf noting that their matchup will provide us with a great betting angle. The initial thought is that size and heigh means better defence and less paint penetration. This isn’t necessarily true in this scenario. Porzingis will look to stretch the floor in order to provide more operating room for his team-mates. It leaves Cousins and Kanter to tally up the boards around the rim with scoring to be more efficient than expected. The Knicks are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 at home so you can be assured that they will turn up. This is also the perfect spot for a Pelicans totals play. The Over is 10-1 in their last 11 when on 1 days rest and has now improved to 15-6 in their last 21.

Tip: Over 218 points ($1.91)

2. Indiana @ Phoenix (12:05pm)

Phoenix have shown a tendency to surprise but their performance against Houston last time out was unacceptable, pathetic and sub-standard. Outside of Devin Booker they had nothing to offer. There was no intensity on defence and they missed more layups than a high school basketball team. A repeat of that performance will see them lose to the Pacers by 20! Taking care of business against bad teams is something that the Pacers have done well. They are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games against teams with a losing home record and 14-6 ATS in their last 20 Sunday games. Following their huge comeback win over the Cavs The Wolf is expecting them to come out with a real intent. The Suns could be down by double digits at quarter time.

Tip: Indiana -4 ($1.92)

3. Portland @ Minnesota (1:05pm)

The Blazers are one of the best road teams in the NBA in terms of betting. They are 13-8-1 ATS (4th best) and have a ATS plus/minus of +3.3 (3rd best). There are only 7 teams in the NBA who have a road record above .500 and the Blazers are one of them. It comes as no surprise that they are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games and Minnesota is historically a place in which they have performed well. They are 21-6 ATS in the last 27 meetings with their Northwest divisional rivals – winning 7 of the last 10 straight up. With Lillard and McCollum in they shape as a real bet with the start. With the Under going 7-2 in the Timberwolves last 9 The Wolf was leaning to an Unders play but the Over is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in Minnesota so we will stick to the Blazers.

Tip: Portland +5.5 ($1.92)
