NBA Tips – 14th January

The Warriors road trip continues to day – this time in Canada. They take the best road record in the league with them across the border but it is the Raptors who have the best home record. Who will reign supreme…

NBA Feature Previews

1. Oklahoma City @ Charlotte (9:05am)

The Thunder are coming off 3 consecutive defeats by a double digit margin and their defensive intensity has definitely dropped off. There is miscommunication on the switches and we are seeing teams get easy layups from back door cuts and open look from beyond the arc. The Wolf says they don’t deserve to be favourites and the only reason the oddsmakers have done so is because the Hornets are on a back to back. Charlotte are 4-9 straight up in their last 13 when on no rest but with the Thunder a miserable 2-10 ATS in their last 12 against teams with a losing record, The Wolf cannot be on either of them. As a result he loves the total – specifically the Unders. The Under is 8-3 in the Hornets last 11 when facing West teams and 4-1 in their last 5 when on the second of a back to back. With Howard and Steven Adams protecting the respective paint areas and the sides ranked 21st and 22nd in 3 point percentage points will not be easy to come by. Unders!

Tip: Under 211 points ($1.91)

2. Golden State @ Toronto (11:35am)

Golden State turned to their defence in the 4th quarter against the Bucks holding them to just 12 points. That will not be happening in Toronto. The Raptors are 15-2 at home this season and confidence will be at a all time high following a 34 point win over the Cavs. This one will be a classic case of better offence beats better defence. They rank 1st and 3rd in points per game to go with 2nd and 3rd in offensive efficiency. The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings, 6-1 in the Warriors last 7 and 4-0 in Raptors last 4 against teams with a winning record. We have seen the Raptors bench improve dramatically this season with Powell, Siakam and VanVleet all contributing. Bench scoring will be the key to sending this total Over and will the Warriors seconf unit shooting a league high 52.5% we have have no problem getting it.

Tip: Over 227 points ($1.91)

3. Detroit @ Chicago (12:05pm)

The youthful Bulls have been very kind to us as of late. They are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 following a win and as is the case with many young sides they exceed market expectations when well rested. They are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 when on 2 days rest and continue to get huge production all the way down the roster. Markkanen was fabulous in the OT win over the Knicks making 8 3-pointers and collecting 10 boards. The Pistons will be on red alert as the Bulls are becoming one of the better 3-point shooting teams in the league. With Drummond in the paint they will no doubt be resorting to the deep ball and The Wolf says they will make more than enough to win.

Tip: Chicago WIN ($1.95)
