NBA Finals Tips: Cavs @ Warriors (Game 2)

Game 1 had it all but can the Cavs bounce back after letting one slip on the road…

NBA Finals Preview and Tips

NBA: Cavs @ Warriors – Game 2 (Mon 11:10am)

Like everybody else, The Wolf was left speechless after Game 1! The series opener exceeded everyone’s expectations and had it all. The Cavs had a free throw to all but win the game, LeBron dropped 51 and we went to OT but the Warriors still won by double digits.

Let’s not even start on…

JR Smith! The Wolf wants to point out several things which are yet to be mentioned. Firstly, why are people surprised??? JR is well known for his lack of focus and hunger to chase ‘home run’ plays. It all started with seconds to go in the opening half. The Cavs we up by 3 and there was less that 2 seconds to go. Rather than stand in front of Steph Curry at half court he gambles for the steal, misses, and Curry nails a dagger three on the buzzer to level the scores. The Cavs should have been up by 10 at the break and that bone head play gave the Warriors the momentum to start the 3rd quarter on a tear. LeBron did everything he could to place him team in a winning position until 5 seconds from JR Smith that will go down in NBA history.

What about…

Coach Lue! How does he get a pass in all of this. He should have been out on the court trying to call time out but instead has left JR to be the scapegoat. JR finished with a plus/minus of -22, the worst of any player in the game, and will likely be snubbed in Game 2 for Korver. The Warriors were there for the taking and the Cavs failed to capitalise. Durant went 8 for 22 (1-7 from deep) and the Cavs finished +15 on the boards – two things that are unlikely to happen again in this series.

Can the Cavs recover…

YES! The Wolf never thought he would be saying this but the fact is that the Warriors got a combined 79 points from their big 3 and had just 7 turnovers in an overtime game! They were complacent on the defensive end and allowed LeBron to have it all his own way. If they play as soft as they did in Game 1, they are there for the taking again in Game 2. The Wolf is expecting them to lift defensively which makes the Unders a great play for Game 2.

Why…

Under is 7-2 in the Warriors last 9 after scoring 100 or more and 20-7-1 in their last 28 following a ATS loss. Furthermore, it is 14-6 in the Warriors last 20 against East teams and will have saluted in Game 1 had it not been for OT. Under is also 4-1 in the Cavs last 5 road games and they will again go big with Thompson and Love which is more good news for the Unders. For the player props, it is all about LeBron. He will not roll over without a fight and is completely aware that he will not get the necessary help from his team-mates. He’ll again get 40+.

Wolf’s NBA Playoffs Best Bet Record: 36-32
