The Wolf kicked off the World Series with his best bet (Dodgers -1.5) paying off and he’ll look for a 2-0 start in game 2 on Thursday.
Houston Astros at Los Angeles Dodgers (11:00am)
The Dodgers beat the Astros in game 1, 3-1 as Kershaw pitched a gem for the home side. Kershaw had 11 strikeouts and gave up just 3 hits. He was also helped by Justin Turner’s two run homer in the 6th inning as the game was tied (1-1) at that stage. In game 2, we’ll get another great pitching matchup as Justin Verlander (Astros) takes on Rich Hill (Dodgers). Verlander has easily been the best Astros pitcher in the postseason and the mid-season trade has paid off so far. But the Dodgers will be his toughest test so far at Dodger Stadium on Thursday. Although looking at his last start against them, Verlander and the Astros are in with a shot. For the Tigers, he pitched 8 innings, struck out 9 and allowed just 2 hits. He’ll aim for the same in game 2 with the Astros down 1-0. He has a 1.46 ERA in the 2017 playoffs and allowed just 10 hits in 16 innings against the Yankees. The Astros are yet to taste a loss in his 9 appearances as well. So the Wolf is tipping Verlander will go 7 or more innings in game 2 and keep the Astros in the game. For the Dodgers, Hill has appeared twice at home in the playoffs and has earned just 3 runs over 9 innings. The Dodgers are 4-0 in his last 4 home starts and they’ll be confident of win number 5. Hill faced the Astros twice last season and went 6 innings in both starts. So this should be another solid outing by Hill at home. So the Wolf is looking at the under total runs in this game after just 4 runs in game 1. The under total is 5-1 in the Dodgers last 6 games against the Astros. The Astros lineup only managed 3 hits in game 1 and they face another left hander in Rich Hill. The Wolf also can’t see Verlander having a bad start as his form on the mound is outstanding. So in the end, the Wolf is backing the under total runs in game 2.
