MLB Tips – 9th July

There is no hiding from Friday’s strikeout but The Wolf says the best way out of a slumps is to keep swinging that bat. He won’t be swinging at any pitches outside the strike zone on Saturday.

Atlanta Braves at Chicago White Sox (10:10am) (Best)

Tip: White Sox WIN ($1.36)

It’s strange how team sport can work, one minute you’re flying and then next you’re on the canvas or vice versa. That is the case in Chicago at the moment with the north side Cubs flying until they hit their recent slump while the south side White Sox were slumping but have now busted out to win 11 of their last 16 overall. Both sides are coming in to this one off wins, Chicago beating the Yankees 5-0 Thursday while the Braves snuck by the Cubs 4-3 in 11 innings on Friday. The now five time All Star Chris Sale (14-2, 2.93 ERA) gets the nod in this one to take on Matt Wisler (3-8, 4.16 ERA). In the perfect world Sale would pitch for the Wolf’s ball club but he doesn’t so let’s move on. He’ll aim to become the first 15 game winner this season and there is every confidence he does against a limp Braves lineup. While the Braves are looking a little better leading in to the All Star break, the White Sox look much better all of a sudden and with one of the leagues best pitchers on the mound it could be a long day for Atlanta.

Minnesota Twins at Texas Rangers (10:05am)

Tip: Rangers WIN ($1.50)

This is the perfect redemption spot for Texas ace Cole Hamels (9-2, 2.93 ERA) in this one as the Rangers continue their four game series with the Twins on Saturday. Hamels put up his shortest start of the season in a 5-4 loss last Monday against the Twins in a very rare road loss and snapping a six game win streak. Not to mention he burnt the Wolf and the punters losing our best bet on the day, losing only his third start in 29 games for Texas so we were very unlucky. The Twins own the worst record in the AL but they have played much better in recent games and seem to enjoy playing against the Rangers. They are riding a three game win streak and have beaten the Rangers three times in 7 days. Kyle Gibson brings a 2-5 record to Arlington and holding a 4.82 ERA and was in danger of losing his starting spot until a fantastic outing against the White Sox. The Wolf has forgiven Hamels, we all have bad days and with the events in neighbouring Dallas today let’s hope a home Rangers win brings much needed happiness and joy to the area.
