The Wolf is predicting runs across the board today so you those bats ready as we will be swinging for the fences.
Detroit Tigers at Boston Red Sox (9:10am)
The Red Sox will aim for win number 5 in a row as they face the Tigers at Fenway Park on Friday. Since a 5-4 win over Justin Verlander and the Astros, the Red Sox have looked unstoppable. They’ve scored 27 runs in those 4 wins and have conceded just 8. In this series alone, the Tigers have been no match for the home side. In two losses, the Tigers have managed just 1 run to 13 allowed. It’s also a special occasion for Boston as Jalen Beeks makes his MLB debut. He probably couldn’t ask for a better time to hit the Majors as this offence is on fire. What’s scary is Mookie Betts is on the DL! So the Tigers will be put the ball in the left hand of Matthew Boyd. He gave up 2 home runs in his latest and he’s 0-3 in 5 away starts this season. His ERA on the road of 4.23 doesn’t fill the Wolf with confidence as to whether he can stop this Red Sox lineup. They’ve won the last 2 games via the handicap so the Wolf can’t see that changing in this matchup.
Houston Astros at Texas Rangers (10:05am)
The Astros and Rangers meet once again this season, this time back in Texas. In 2018, the Astros lead the head to head 6-4. They won the last 2 meetings via the same score of 6-1. The Rangers are poor at home in 2018 as they hold a 13-19 record. So it’s hard to see an upset here, especially looking at Cole’s record against Texas this season. In 14 total innings, he’s amassed 25 strikeouts and just 5 hits. In his first start of the season, the Astros dominated with an 8-2 victory at this venue. Meanwhile, Cole Hamels is coming off a 5 earned run outing against the Royals. The Astros have a better lineup compared to the Royals so the Wolf can’t see him having a good time on Friday. In the end, the Astros have won 5 of 6 against the Rangers by 2+ runs. With this pitching matchup, they should comfortably cover the handicap.
