The Wolf is back for more MLB action on Friday. In the early games, the Nationals and Mets should fall under the total runs with two in-form pitchers on the mound. The Twins are good value at home against the Mariners while the Yankees love playing the Orioles at home. The Wolf is predicting another big win.
Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates (9:05am)
The Pirates were the last remaining undefeated team in the MLB until Thursday, which was pretty surprising. In the offseason, they lost two of their best players so it’s been a great start in Pittsburgh. However, this is an interesting matchup as the Reds went 13-6 against the Pirates last season. They beat the Cubs 1-0 in their last game and their starter, Homer Bailey, is coming off a decent start. Against the strong Nationals batting lineup, he allowed just 4 hits in 6 innings. While for the Pirates in this matchup, Steven Brault will get the start. In his short career so far, he’s started in just 11 games. So inexperience could be his downfall. In the end, the Wolf likes the Reds record against the Pirates and sees the value in them causing an upset.
Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers (10:10am)
The Brewers and Cubs reignite their rivalry with game 1 of this series being played on Friday. In the last series between the two sides, 3 of 4 games went into extra innings. So the Wolf is predicting another close affair and he’ll be looking at the under total. In the last 9 meetings, the under is 7-1-1 so the Wolf likes the trend. On the mound, both sides will be starting lefties. Jon Lester of the Cubs will be looking to rebound after a shaky first start. Against the Marlins, he earned 3 runs and allowed 7 hits in just 3.1 innings of work. But the Brewers are coming off a shutout and the Wolf believes Lester can recapture his form in this one. For the Brewers, Brent Suter is coming off a decent start against the Padres. He went 5 innings and allowed just 5 hits. So he should be able to contain Cubs lineup. They’ve struggled against the Marlins and Reds so far, which aren’t great teams. So in the end, the Wolf will be backing the under total.
