We’re down to the business end of the season and the stakes don’t get much higher than the winner takes all wild card games. The Wolf is geared up for a huge MLB postseason!
Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays
After 162 games and six months of regular season, it will all come down to one game for Baltimore and Toronto as they battle it out to see who moves on to the ALDS to play the Texas Rangers. Both sides finished with identical records however Toronto finished the season series 10-9 and gained home field advantage for this sudden death matchup. There is debate over home field advantage and if it really means anything baseball like other sports and the Wolf tends to think there really is no advantage. The home side sends Marcus Stroman (9-10, 4.37 ERA) to the mound and will oppose Chris Tillman (16-6, 3.77 ERA). Stroman benefited from Toronto having to use Sanchez and Estrada over the weekend to ensure a wild card game while Tillman is the ace in Baltimore. Stroman finished the season strong, allowing three or less runs in five of his last six starts. Meanwhile Tillman went winless in his final three turns and failed to get through at least six innings in each of those starts. Both lineups are full of power so pitchers in both clubs will need to be vary cautious about their location and pitch selection. That said, the under trend is huge for both ball clubs and pitchers. It’s 4-0 in Tillmans last 4 overall starts while it’s 7-1 in his last 8 road starts. It’s 5-0 in Stroman’s last 5 overall starts and 6-1 in the Blue Jays last 7 home games. Also worth mentioning it’s 7-0 in the last 7 between these two sides and 4-0 in the last 4 in Toronto. If you want a winner, flip a coin but the under is definitely the big lean in this one.
