The playoffs are here and the Wolf is pumped for the MLB action to start! Firstly, the two wildcard games will take place in New York and Arizona (Thursday). On Wednesday, the Yankees or Twins will move on to face the Indians in Cleveland. In the other AL matchup, the Astros take on the Red Sox. They just met before the playoffs and the Astros went 3-1 in Boston. In the NL, the Dodgers face the winner of the Rockies and Diamondbacks wildcard game. While in the other matchup, the Cubs and Nationals play each other. The Wolf picked an Indians/Dodgers World Series at the start of the season so his prediction is looking strong at the moment as they both won 100+ games.
Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees (10:00am)
The Yankees finished the season with a 5-2 record and they went close to winning the AL East. So they’re massive favourites to move on in the playoffs over the Twins. They swept the Twins in three games at Yankee Stadium in mid-September. Which also included a 2-1 win over Ervin Santana as he starts for the Twins in this game. Santana had a great record on the road this year, going 10-3 with a 2.71 ERA. In his last outing, he kept the Indians scoreless over 5 innings and allowed just 4 hits. He has also pitched well at Yankee Stadium in the past, but the Twins have lost 2-1 in his last 2 starts at New York. While for the Yankees, Luis Severino will make the start. The Yankees are 8-2 in his last 10 starts and they’ve won 5 straight. At home, the Yankees are 4-0 when he pitches. He has a 8-5 record at Yankee Stadium in 2017 and a 3.71 ERA. He was particularly strong in night games as he went 12-4 with a 2.37 ERA. So all signs are pointing to a low scoring game in the Bronx. The Yankees are 5-1 against the under total game score and all 6 were also at Yankee Stadium. It’s also 4-2 in games between the Twins and Yankees this season. In a playoff atmosphere, the Wolf is expecting both sides will struggle to score against strong pitching. In the end, this is a tough matchup for the Twins on the road. The Yankees went 3-0 against them recently and they’re a good bet to win this game at home. They went 51-30 at home this season and they have the wood over the Twins at home.
