MLB Tips – 2nd August

Don’t miss The Wolf’s Tuesday MLB tips. It’s a shorter schedule but plenty of winners are there for the taking.

Washington Nationals at Arizona Diamondbacks (11:40am) (Best Bet)

Tip: Nationals WIN ($1.54)

Washington will be happy getting off the plane in Phoenix after just finishing up two away series against the Giants and the Indians, two of the best record holders in the majors. Arizona struggle to win at home and this is a great soft spot for the Nats to pick up some cheap wins, especially since they will be hosting the Giants and Indians at home after this series. They will hopefully have Daniel Murphy back in the line-up after injury kept him out of both losses against the Giants where the offence was missing. The snakes will be looking forward to August after going 7-17 in July, to go along with a 17-35 home record now sit dead last in the NL West. Archie Bradley (4-6, 4.17 ERA) gets the ball for Arizona and is coming off a win against Milwaukee where he allowed just the one run. He is 1-3 with a 5.15 ERA at home this season and will face the Nationals for the first time in his career. Stephen Strasburg (14-1, 2.68 ERA) hurls for Washington and was brilliant against Cleveland, giving up just three hits and striking out seven. He is 7-0 (1.72 ERA) away from Washington and with the D’Backs horrible at home this could get ugly. Nationals handicap could also be a great option.

Kansas City Royals at Tampa Bay Rays (9:10am)

Tip: Royals WIN ($1.92)

The Royals travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Rays in the first of a four game set. The Rays will be out to win their fifth straight game while the Royals are just looking for anything at this point. Kansas City have lost four in a row and eight of nine since the break. Tampa’s rotation is a massive reason they are suddenly playing better, posting 10 quality starts in their last 11 games and Chris Archer (5-14, 4.42 ERA) will look to continue that streak Tuesday. He has struggled against KC though with 0-3 career record while posting a 6.20 ERA. He faces Danny Duffy (6-1, 3.22 ERA) for the second time this season after going head to head back in June, a start that Duffy won. Duffy is 6-0 with a 3.00 ERA in his last six efforts. The defending World Champs are struggling at the moment and fading fast and at the minute looking very likely to miss postseason action in 2016. Their offence is stuttering after totaling nine runs in four games against Texas and now sit 17-36 on the road. They are struggling but the Wolf has a feeling an upset is on the cards and the Royals at their current price are too good to ignore.
