Both feature previews grabbed the cash on Sunday and The Wolf is in the bullpen for the Wolfpack for the early Monday games.

St Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs (Best)

Tip: Cubs WIN

The season series is tied at 9-9 and will be decided when these two squads wrap up the current series on Monday. In the grand scheme of it all, the seasons series doesn’t mean much but would be bragging right for St Louis and help boost them in their quest for one of the NL wild card spots which is currently a three team race. The red birds won’t have an easy task as they will face lefty Jon Lester (18-4, 2.36 ERA) who hasn’t recorded a loss since July 3. In his 12 starts since the all star break, he’s posted 11 quality starts and is 9-0 with ridiculous 1.46 ERA. He’s faced St Louis twice this season, owning a 1-0 record with a 1.29 ERA in two start. Opposing him will be Carlos Martinez (15-8, 3.16 ERA) who is no slouch himself, in particular on the road where he is 9-1 with 2.42 ERA. Lester is 9-2 with a 1.86 ERA at home so these numbers are telling us this will be one heck of a battle on the mound to see who can outlast their opponent. The Wolf is tipping the Cubs to finish at Wrigley on a high. Also check the total run market, anything around 8 or 9, jump on the under.

Seattle Mariners at Minnesota Twins

Tip: Mariners WIN

The worst team in the majors has put the first nail in the coffin of the Mariners after splitting the wins in the opening two games of the series. The M’s are battling for a wild card spot but have put themselves in a big hole after dropping one to Minnesota. They get a chance to pick up the series win Monday and keep their wild card dreams alive when they play game three and send Taijuan Walker (6-11, 4.32 ERA) to the mound. Walker comes in to this one on the back of a loss to Toronto that saw him give up three runs from five hits. His prior start however was excellent, going the distance in a three hit shutout. Hector Santiago (12-9, 4.82 ERA) will be handed the ball for Minnesota after getting in to his own trouble last start, giving up six runs on seven hits to Detroit. He doesn’t like pitching at Target Field where he is just 1-3 with a 6.83 ERA in five starts. The Mariners were unlucky to win Saturday after an 0-8 effort with runners in scoring position but they won’t be putting up that poor effort against Santiago. Mariners to get the win.
