MLB Tips – 26th July

Both feature previews got the cash on Monday as the Wolf posted yet another winning record. On Tuesday he says confidence levels are very high across the board!

NY Yankees at Houston Astros (10:10am)

Tip: Astros WIN ($1.68)

There Astros must be drinking some of ‘Michael’s secret stuff’ of recent because they are flying at the moment. Starting the season 17-28 and getting tagged as the Lastros, Houston have now gone 37-16 – an MLB best – to move within just 2 ½ games of the AL West leading Rangers. It was just four weeks ago they trailed by as many as 11 games. Meanwhile the Yankees look to be at the point of selling up shop with closer Aroldis Chapman all but traded with the likely suitor being the Chicago Cubs. They’ve just come off a 6-4 homestand that included impressive series defeats of the Orioles and the Giants. Things will be a little bit different having to travel to Houston and take on a team that has won 21 of their last 27 at home. Dallas Keuchel (6-9, 4.70 ERA) who started the season so poorly is now unbeaten in his last six starts and holds an impressive 3-1 record with a 1.45 ERA in his career against the Yankees. Michael Pineda (4-9, 5.25 ERA) was more Michael Pinata in his last effort against Houston, belted for six runs that included three HR’s in just five innings. Astros to stay hot at home.

Colorado Rockies at Baltimore Orioles (9:05am)

Tip: Orioles WIN ($1.63)

Baltimore have now won four straight and taken hold of first place in the AL East as a result. They will now host the Rockies in the first game of a three game interleague set. Baltimore have managed to get three quality starts from their rotation that has helped them set up this win streak which comes as a surprise given they are last in the AL with just 37 quality starts on the season and that includes those previously mentioned three. Despite this, they hold a 36-14 home record while Colorado are 22-27 when visiting other ballparks. Yovani Gallardo (3-2, 5.69 ERA) gets the ball for Baltimore and will have a job on his hands trying to stop boom rookie Trevor Story who is just three HR’s short of tying the MLB record of 30 HR’s for a rookie SS, currently held by Boston legend Nomar Garciaparra. The Rockies will have Jorge De La Rosa (6-7, 6.07 ERA) on the mound who was crushed in his last start against the Rays, going for nine runs on 11 hits in just four innings. This is close to the best bet of the day and expect plenty of runs.
