MLB Tips – 25th September

The Wolf went 8-5 on Saturday. One day closer to 900 wins! That’s 25-12 in the last three days.

Colorado Rockies at LA Dodgers

Tip: Dodgers -1.5 ($1.87)

It’s been an enormous weekend for the Dodgers and their long time announcer Vin Scully who is retiring after 67 seasons as the voice of the LA franchise. The Dodgers holding a Vin Scully appreciation weekend to celebrate his career and provide Vin a great home send off. The voice of the Dodgers will get to call one last start for ace Clayton Kershaw (11-3, 1.73 ERA) who opposes Colorado starter Chad Bettis (13-7, 4.79 ERA). LA don’t lose money when Kershaw starts, winners in 37 of his last 51 home starts. They definitely dominate those losing record teams when they visit Dodger stadium, going 14-2 in Kershaw’s last 16 starts at home against sub .500 teams. That spells bad news for Colorado who are currently seven games under .500 and losers in their last 4 road games. Bettis can hold his own on the mound and his record shows this with the Rockies 15-3 in his last 18 starts. It’s hard to go past the Dodgers in this situation though with all the emotion of the weekend and Kershaw starting. We should see a Dodger win.

Arzona Diamondbacks at Baltimore Orioles

Tip: Orioles WIN ($1.68)

Baltimore are in a dog fight for a wild card birth at the moment and picking up the win in Game one against Arizona is a huge boost to the morale in clubhouse after four straight losses. The win come via the bat of Mark Trumbo, a 12th inning solo shot finishing the game at 3-2. The Baltimore bats will need to improve in Game two though if they want to keep the momentum going and will get that chance against Robbie Ray (8-13, 4.66 ERA) who comes in off a rough turn against the Dodgers. He was rung up for five runs in 5.2 innings, giving up a home run for the third straight start. Opposing him will be Baltimore starter Wade Miley (8-13, 5.65 ERA) who is 0-3 in his last four turns even though he allowed just the one hit in four innings against Tampa in his last start. Camden Yards has been good to Baltimore this season and with Arizona just 5-13 in their interleague schedule this season, tipping the O’s to get the win and put more pressure on the likes of Detroit and Toronto for that wild card spot.
