The Dodgers are the first team into the World Series after a 11-1 thrashing of the Cubs in game 5 on Friday. So the Dodgers will await the winner of the ALCS between the Yankees and Astros. The Wolf provides his preview of game 6 below and gives his best bets.
New York Yankees at Houston Astros (11:00am)
The Yankees are on the verge of a World Series berth but they need to overcome the Astros in Houston. The Yankees are 0-2 so far in this series on the road and Justin Verlander is back on the mound. He pitched a 9 inning, 5 hit gem in game 2 as the Astros won 2-1. The Astros have not lost in 8 games when Verlander pitches as well. So the Wolf is tipping a tough time for the Yankees lineup. The Astros are also 4-0 at home in the playoffs this season and they’ll be confident of a rebound after three straight losses in New York. The Yankees outscored them 19 to 5, but the Wolf is backing Verlander to halt the Yankees run scoring. On the mound for New York will be Luis Severino and he gets the chance to send the Yankees into the World Series. He pitched against Verlander in game 2 and came off second best in a 4 inning outing. But he still only allowed 2 hits from 62 pitches. The worry for him is the home run ball. In his last 11.1 innings, he’s allowed 5 home runs. He also has an arm injury issue which could limit his time on the mound in game 5. So the Wolf is confident in the Astros chances of winning game 5 and he’s backing them as the safe bet. The home side is 5-0 in the ALCS and it’s hard to see the Yankees dominating Verlander. However, the best bet in this game is the under total runs. It’s 2-0 at Houston in this series and the total runs averages just 3 runs. If Severino has trouble early, the Wolf is backing the Yankees bullpen to keep the Astros off the bases. In the end, both games in Houston finished in a 2-1 scoreline. Therefore, the Wolf is predicting another low scoring, tight affair in game 5. For extra value, the Astros and the Under 7.5 runs is paying $2.90 in the Match Winner & Game Total Double market.
