MLB Tips – 1st September

The winning streak continued with a 7-6 Wednesday to close off a huge August. The Wolf says we will kick off September with a bang!

NY Yankees at KC Royals (Best)

Tip: Royals WIN ($1.78)

The Wolf knows he steered you in to the underdog Royals Wednesday and it come up a run short in extra innings but we’re going right back to KC and the rally mantis. If KC are going to play postseason they can’t afford any more slips along the way and they are slowly running out of games. It took extra innings and stellar night from Jacoby Ellsbury to beat KC Wednesday, just their fifth loss in 23 games. Trying to get them back on track will be Ian Kennedy (9-9, 3.57 ERA) who won his third straight turn last start when he beat Boston 6-3, striking out eight in the process. He’s allowed just five runs and struck out 36 in his last six starts and they Royals are 4-0 in his last 4 starts. The Royals are a lineup that enjoys facing right handers, going 13-3 in their last 16 vs RH starters. These two squads appear to have different thoughts about playing in game three of a series with the Yankees 1-4 in their last 5 and the Royals 7-0 in their last 7. Looking for the Royals to get the win here and redeem themselves.

Miami at NYM

Tip: Over 7.5 runs ($1.87)

For a long part of the season it was the Mets pitching staff that was keeping the Mets win column ticking over slowly, now it’s the offence picking up the slack. The rotation has suddenly hit a wall with a number of injuries affecting the starting group but fortunately the ageless Bartolo Colon (12-7, 3.44) has avoided the curse so far. Colon just keeps turning up and has won three of his last five outings, allowing just the one home run in that span. He last faced Miami back in June when he allowed just the one run in five innings but missed out on the decision. While the Mets bats are enjoying some runs, the same can’t be said for Miami who have scored just six runs in their four game losing streak. They have scored three runs in a game just twice in their last 10 games and it’s very obvious they are missing Stanton in that lineup. The over is appealing with the Mets 12-3 in their last 15 overall and while the Marlins bats are coming up empty, there should be enough in NY to get us there. Also look at a Mets win and if their run total lands around 4.5 take the over as well.
