The Wolf went 1-1 on Wednesday and he’s aiming for a clean sweep on Thursday. The morning starts in New York as the Astros battle the Yankees. While in Chicago, the Cubs will be desperate for a rebound in game 4 against the in-form Dodgers.
Houston Astros at New York Yankees (8:00am)
The Yankees have evened the series after two straight wins at home. They were down 4-0 in game 4 and scored 6 unanswered runs in a 6-4 scoreline. So they’ll have the momentum in game 5. In the pitching matchup, both sides are sticking with their game 1 starter. For the Astros, they’ll go back to Dallas Keuchel after he earned a win in game 1. He pitched 7 innings and allowed just 4 hits as the bullpen finished the job in a 2-1 victory. He has a great record against the Yankees, having allowed just 4 runs in 33.2 innings against them. Dating back to 2015, the Astros are also 4-1 when he pitches against the Yankees. While for New York, Tanaka earned a tough loss in game 1 after a 6 inning outing. His record against the Astros isn’t great and the Yankees are 0-5 against them with Tanaka on the mound. The Astros are favourites in the betting and after two straight losses, they’ll be desperate for a victory in game 5. Based on the pitching matchup, the Wolf is backing the Astros to go up in the series again.
Los Angeles Dodgers at Chicago Cubs (12:00pm)
Los Angeles are on the verge of the sweep after a huge win in game 3. After a first inning home run for the Cubs, the Dodgers scored 6 straight runs and sealed the victory 6-1. In game 4, Alex Wood is making his first appearance of the postseason. This season on the road, he had a 2.24 ERA and a 7-1 record. He did face the Cubs twice, once at home and one on the road. In Chicago, the Dodgers lost 3-2 and Wood lasted just 3.2 innings. The Cubs are 4-1 against Wood since 2014, so they could be a chance in this one. For the Cubs, Jake Arrieta will be relied upon for their chances of saving the series. However, the Dodgers are 4-1 against him since 2013. They’ve also scored 15 unanswered runs in Arrieta’s last 3 starts against them. Which includes a Dodgers 6-0 victory in the playoffs last year. The Cubs are really struggling for runs at the moment (4 runs in last 3 games) and the Wolf can’t see a drastic improvement in game 4. So he’s sticking with the Dodgers as they’re 6-0 in the 2017 playoffs.
