MLB Tips – 17th July

The Wolf went 9-4 on Saturday. The best bet got rolled though. Confident we can turn that around on Sunday’s session.

Baltimore Orioles at TB Rays (8:10am)

Tip: Orioles WIN ($1.77)

Baltimoremanaged to sneak past Tampa in the opening game of this series by a single run behind Jonathan Schoop and his 15th HR of the season in the 8th inning. It’s easy for a name like Schoop to get lost in that O’s lineup but the guy is on a real offensive streak at the moment and it looks like the run he had before the ASG hasn’t been halted by the layoff. Baltimore now has a two game lead in the AL East and have won five of their last six. They will now send Chris Tillman (12-2, 3.41 ERA) to the hill in a bid to keep their run alive and push out that lead in their division. Lefty Matt Moore (5-6, 4.46ERA) will throw for Tampa who have lost an incredible 23 of their last 26 matchups which includes a loss in their last seven straight. Worth also mentioning that they are 2-8 against the Orioles this season and looking likely to move to 2-9 with the Orioles ace going. The Orioles will need to stay hot if they are to hold the divisional lead with both Boston and Toronto hot on their heels. Liking the O’s to get it done in this one.

Miami Marlins at St Louis Cardinals (9:15am)

Tip: Cardinals first 5 innings result ($1.60)

Apparently the Cardinals don’t like playing at Busch Stadium in front of their home fans. They have now lost 11 of their last 15 at home after surrendering six runs in the final four innings to lose 7-6 against the Marlins Saturday. The red birds have now lost a total of 27 home games this season, already eclipsing the 26 they lost the entire 2015 season. The Cardinals need to turn their form at home around and quick as they have just started a 10 game homestand and need all the wins they can get. Meanwhile Miami have won four in a row and seven of their 10 games played in July. The HR derby champ Stanton has been nuts at the plate of recent, collecting 11 RBI’s and eight runs on route to an eight game hitting streak. Adam Wainwright (8-5, 4.49 ERA) will look to try and cool Stanton off on Sunday and has recorded back to back quality outings. He threw seven scoreless innings against Milwaukee and then struck out nine in seven innings against Pittsburgh a few nights later. The bullpen let the Cardinals down Saturday and with Wainwright pitching very well at the moment, the confidence is in the first 5 innings.
