The Wolf went 7-3 on Monday but the Astros and Rangers just couldn’t get going on offence. On Tuesday, Stanton faces his former side in the Bronx and the Wolf is predicting runs galore. There’s also an interesting clash between the Rockies and Pirates because both sides are in-form.
St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs (9:05am)
The Wolf will look at the rivalry matchup between the Cubs and Cardinals in this preview. For the Cubs, they’ve been wildly inconsistent in 2018. They’ve lost 3 of 5 at home and it really should be 4 after they pulled off a miracle last time out against the Braves. So the Wolf believes the Cardinals are great value in this contest. They are coming off 4 straight wins, although they were against the woeful Reds, winning form is always good. They played hard against the Brewers previously, which is a similar team to the Cubs. Adam Wainwright is their starter in this one and has taken 2 tough losses so far. He’s reached around 90 pitches in each start and just hasn’t gotten support from the offence. So he should pitch well at Wrigley on Tuesday. While for the Cubs starter Tyler Chatwood, it’s been a similar story as he holds a 0-2 record. But he did give up 5 runs in his first home start at this venue against the Pirates. So that doesn’t fill the Wolf with confidence. So he’ll take the Cardinals.
Houston Astros at Seattle Mariners (12:10pm)
In the late game of the day, the Wolf looks at the Astros and Mariners in an AL West matchup. Houston is back in action after a close loss at home against the Rangers on Monday. They were dominated by Colon and they’ll be facing James Paxton in this one. He’s yet to win a start in 3 attempts but has reached around 100 pitches in all 3. He’s also showing strong strikeout numbers. However, his first start at home was pretty average as the Indians scored 6 runs against him and he earned the loss. So the Astros should be confident of getting back on the winner’s list. They’ll have Dallas Keuchel on the mound and he’s also yet to win a start in 2018. He hasn’t had much support from the batting lineup but has also struggled with walks. In his last 2 starts, he’s allowed 8 total walks. But in the end, these two pitchers can keep this game under the total runs if they pitch to their potential. Both team’s scored just 1 run in their last game as well and the Wolf is predicting another tough game against these two lefties. To top it off, the under is 6-3 at this venue between the two sides since 2017.
