MLB Feature Previews

Oakland Athletics at Texas Rangers (10:05am)

Tip: Rangers WIN ($1.65)

Texas comes in to this series as one of the best offensive line-ups in the AL, however they have just been shut out in back to back games by the Detroit Tigers and set a franchise first in the process. Monday was a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Michael Fulmer who was simply immense. Their lead over the Mariners is now down to just 5 ½ games in the division. It’s now been 21 innings since the Rangers scored a run, surprising considering they sit fourth in the AL with 554 runs. The A’s travel to Arlington after 10 games at home where they went 6-4. They bring starter Ross Detwiler (1-0, 2.13 ERA) and he was impressive in his first major start. He held the Orioles – a powerful team – to just six hits in eight scoreless innings. He’s a former Ranger so there might be some motivation here for him but that means they have intel on him and this could be to his and the A’s disadvantage. Martin Perez (7-8, 4.22 ERA) gets the nod for Texas and he’s 6-1 with a 2.47 ERA at home. Rangers to fire in this one and deliver the cash for the followers.

Seattle Mariners at LA Angels (12:05pm)

Tip: Mariners WIN ($1.95)

After sweeping the Angels at home just over a week ago, Seattle now travel to Anaheim to face the Angels in a four game series starting Tuesday. They look to win their ninth in 10 attempts and close the gap on Boston for that second wild card spot in the AL. To help with the equation the Mariners get Felix Hernandez (6-4, 3.39 ERA) on the mound for the series opener. He is coming off a stellar outing Detroit, allowing just the one run while striking out eight in seven innings. He has already beaten the Angels this season, despite giving up four runs. The Angels are really struggling at the moment. They just went 0-9 on their road trip which now sees them on a 10 game losing streak and were outscored 37-12 by the Indians in their last series. Ricky Nolasco (4-9, 5.14 ERA) will have the task of bringing down Cano and company. He has struggled at Angel Stadium in his career, going 1-1 with a huge 7.00 ERA. There is a big trend here for the Mariners with Hernandez on the mound as he gets his game back together after being on the DL. If you like run totals, the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in LA.
