The Wolf continued his good form on Friday with a 4-2-1 record. So he’s looking forward to the weekend’s slate of games. He’ll start in Houston as the Astros take on the Rangers.
Texas Rangers at Houston Astros (10:10am)
Gerrit Cole is back on the mound for the Astros and the offseason trade with the Pirates is paying off already. In his first two starts, the Astros have outscored the Padres and Rangers 9-2. He’s pitched in 14 innings and has allowed just 7 hits. So after the Rangers lost against him 8-2, it’s hard to see them overcoming Cole in Houston this time. The Astros are coming off two losses against the Twins but they’ve won 5 of 6 at home this season. So the Wolf is predicting they’ll rebound at home on Saturday. The last series with the Rangers went 3-1 in the Astros’ favour. In all 3 wins, the Astros covered the line. At home this season, they’re 3-2 ATS with the two games finishing by a single run. So the Wolf can’t see the Rangers getting close and will be taking the Astros at the line.
Oakland Athletics at Seattle Mariners (12:10pm)
The Wolf will be looking at the Athletics and Mariners in the late game of the day. It’s an interesting series in the AL West and both sides are coming off good performances. Especially the Athletics as they smashed the Dodgers 16-6 at Dodger Stadium. Meanwhile, the Mariners won the last 2 against the Royals after losing 10-0. So this one will likely come down to the pitching matchup. The Mariners send Mike Leake to the hill and Andrew Triggs gets the ball for the Athletics. Leake has won both starts in 2018 and has a respectable ERA of 3.00. Triggs won his last start against the Angels and the Athletics are 2-0 in his starts. So the Wolf is looking at the over total runs as he expects both sides to continue their run-scoring efforts from past games. Since 2017, the Athletics are 6-4 against the over at Seattle. They also should bring a confident lineup to Seattle after thrashing the Dodgers. Also, the last matchup between these two sides finished 6-5. So in the end, the Wolf will be getting on the overs.
