The Yankees stunned the Indians in game 5 of the ALDS on Thursday. They’ll now take on the Astros in the ALCS for a spot in the World Series. While in the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers await game 5 in Washington between the Cubs and Nationals. The Wolf provides his tip below.
Chicago Cubs at Washington Nationals (11:10am)
It’s game 5 in the NLDS between the Cubs and Nationals in Washington. The winner of this game moves on to play the Dodgers in the NLCS. The Cubs will go back to Kyle Hendricks in game 5 after he dominated the Nationals in game 1. He went 7 innings and allowed just 2 hits, while striking out 6. Overall, the Cubs conceded just 2 hits in that game, but the Nationals are in good form. They beat the Cubs 5-0 in game 4 and they won 6-3 in the last game at home. They’ll start Gio Gonzalez and he made his first start of the series in game 2. In the Nationals 6-3 victory, he pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 home runs/3 earned runs. So really the Nationals were lucky to win as they scored 5 runs in the 8th inning. But the under total is looking like the best value bet in game 5. The under total is 6-0 in Hendricks’ last 6 starts overall and easily covered in game 1 of this series when he pitched. Also in his last 9 road starts, the under is 8-1. The total runs in Gonzalez’s last 2 starts against the Cubs has reached 9 in both. However, the Cubs lineup has a .191 batting average against him and the Wolf believes this will be a low scoring game. In the end, the under total is 3-1 in this series and the Wolf is all over it at $2.
