MLB Tips – 12th August

A 9-4-1 record on Thursday put us back in the winner’s circle and despite both previews coming up short the big dog pick in the Yankees cashed. It’s time to get on a roll heading into the weekend.

MLB Feature Previews

LA Angels at Cleveland Indians (9:10am) (Best)

Tip: Indians WIN ($1.48)

Cleveland will be happy to return to Progressive Field after finishing 3-3 on their recent road trip, alternating their wins and losses over the stretch. They will now have 11 games at home and look to improve on their current home record of 31-20 while solidifying their lead in the AL Central. They host the Angels in the first game of the series who are coming off six straight losses. LA has a struggling offence right now, scoring just three runs total in their last three contests. Jhoulys Chacin (3-7, 5.27 ERA) gets the nod and will return to the rotation with the Tim Lincecum plan not working and likely over. He has two career starts against Cleveland and is yet to record a decision, allowing four runs and walking five in five innings last time he faced them. Corey Kluber (11-8, 3.22 ERA) will go for Cleveland after improving his record to 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA in his last five starts. He faced the Angels back in June, throwing a complete game while allowing just the two runs in a 6-2 victory. Indians at home against a struggling Angels outfit, we’re backing the Indians.

Chicago White Sox at KC Royals (10:15am)

Tip: Royals WIN ($1.65)

These two squads played out a 3-2, 14 inning effort on Thursday and will now play the deciding third game in the series. Danny Duffy (8-1, 2.97 ERA) is in great form at the moment with the Royals winning his last eight starts. He will aim to win his third straight in this one and improve to 7-0 in his last nine efforts. His home record is 4-0 but does have the tendency to let a ball go back over his head at Kauffman Stadium so something to watch there. Miguel Gonzalez (2-6, 4.09 ERA) gets the start for Chicago and is 0-2 in his last five starts. His last start against the Orioles he allowed four runs on 10 hits, earning himself a loss. He did pitch well in his previous start against Kansas City, allowing two runs while striking out eight. The Royals are 5-1 in Duffys last 6 starts overall vs the White Sox and 4-1 in his last 5 home starts vs the White Sox. The Royals win more games than they lose when Duffy pitches and should pick up another win for him in this one.
