The Wolf is backing a few upsets in Saturday’s MLB action. The Red Sox are 8-0 and face the Yankees in New York. The Rangers are a value bet against the Astros as Houston aren’t in great form. The Padres are around $4 to beat the Dodgers but the value bet is the over runs. The Wolf is also tipping high scoring games in Miami, Detroit and St Louis. In the late game, the Angels should beat the Mariners.
Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees (9:05am)
On Saturday, the Yankees and Red Sox start a weekend series in an important AL East matchup. The Red Sox are flying at the moment with eight straight victories and they lead the AL East by 4.5 games. While the Yankees lead the AL Wildcard, they’ll definitely like to win the division. But they’re coming off a 2-1 series loss against the Blue Jays. In this pitching matchup, Eduardo Rodriguez of the Red Sox takes on Jaime Garcia from the Yankees. This will be Garcia’s first home start at Yankee Stadium after he was traded from the Twins. He struggled in his first start for the Yankees as the Indians scored 5 runs against him. In his last three starts, he’s allowed a total of 11 runs and the Wolf says he’ll find it tough against the Red Sox. Eduardo Rodriguez is coming off a quality start and he has a great record at Yankee Stadium. In 2016, he pitched 7 innings and only allowed 4 hits as the Red Sox won 5-2. While in 2015, the Red Sox scored 5 runs again in a victory as Rodriguez pitched 6 innings with just 7 hits. Boston have one of the best bullpens in the Majors and the Wolf expects Rodriguez will hold the Yankees bats for the bullpen to finish his work. The Wolf says back the Red Sox.
Chicago Cubs at Arizona D-backs (11:40am)
The Cubs have won just two games in their last 8 games but they have the edge on the mound in this matchup. John Lackey is 4-0 in his last five starts against the Diamondbacks, including two at Arizona. This season, the Cubs are 5-0 in his last five starts and he’s won four straight decisions. While for the Diamondbacks, they have a 0-5 record in Taijuan Walker’s last five starts. In his last two home starts, the D-Backs have lost 8-3 and 7-0. Those games were against the Braves and Reds, so the Cubs will be an even more challenging start for Walker. The Diamondbacks are coming off a tough series against the Dodgers and the Cubs have three teams chasing them for the NL Central division lead. The Wolf says the Cubs are the best bet in this game with Lackey on the mound.
