MLB Feature Previews

Baltimore Orioles at Oakland A’s (12:05pm) (Best)

Tip: Orioles WIN ($1.78)

Baltimore are struggling to score runs at the moment and clearly evidenced in this series, scoring just three runs in the first two games. Not only are they struggling to score runs but they are struggling just to put bat on ball at the moment. Baltimore had just three hits on Wednesday when they suffered a 2-1 loss in game two. They have lost nine of their past 14 and somehow still holding on to a tie for first place in the AL with Toronto. Oakland are well in the rear view mirror in the playoff race and had lost eight of their past nine before managing back to back wins in this series. Ross Detwiler (0-0, 5.79 ERA) will make his A’s debut after coming across from the Indians. He is 0-2 with a 5.09 ERA lifetime against the Orioles. Yovani Gallardo (4-3, 5.47 ERA) gets the ball for Baltimore and he’s had a rough time before beating the White Sox in his last start. He hasn’t been the most confident pitcher on the road but given who will be opposing him, the Wolf thinks he’ll have the edge to slow down the A’s more than Detwiler will be able to slow down the Orioles.

Arizona Diamondbacks at NY Mets (9:10am)

Tip: Mets WIN ($1.74)

The Mets are on the verge of dropping a series to a team in last place, something that simply can’t happen if they want any shot at scoring a wild card spot in the NL. New York were leading heading in to the seventh on Wednesday when the D’Backs scored three to lead 5-3 and eventually winning by the same score behind the returning Zack Greinke. They now find themselves 2 ½ games behind the Marlins for the second wild card spot and continues the win-loss-win trend they have displayed since the break. Meanwhile Arizona is firmly in the NL West basement and won’t see postseason action but they do have the chance to wreck other clubs aspirations. Following this series, they will see the Yankees and the Red Sox in back to back series who are both vying for the AL playoffs. Robbie Ray (5-11, 4.83 ERA) takes the mound for Arizona while the ageless Bartolo Colon (10-6, 3.46 ERA) takes the hill for the Mets. Arizona is the only club in the majors that Colon hasn’t managed a win against, sitting at 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA. That’s motivation enough for the Wolf to back the Mets.
