NFL Preview – Week 4

The Wolf previews each of the televised matches in Week 4 of the NFL. NFC North rivals, Chicago and Green Bay kick things off at Lambeau in a Week 4 schedule littered with divisional rivalries. The Raiders were completely inept in their 27-10 loss to the Redskins in Monday Night Football and face a tough road trip to Denver this week. The Wolf’s best bet is the Broncos to cover the field goal line.

NFL Match Previews

Chicago @ Green Bay – (Fri 10:25am)
Two words – Aaron Rodgers! The future hall of fame quarterback got the Packers out of jail against the Bengals last week with a 72-yard pass to wide receiver Geronimo Allison which set up a match-winning field goal for Mason Crosby. Rodgers has dominated the Bears for a long time and has 17 scoring passes and just the one interception in his past six matches against the Bears. Green Bay have won eight of their last 10 games against Chicago, while the Bears are a poor 3-10 ATS in their last 13 against the Packers. The Bears will be on a high after their shock win over the Steelers last week, but will come crashing back to earth at Lambeau in Thursday Night Football.
Best: Green Bay -7 ($1.91)

New Orleans @ Miami – (Mon 12:30am)
The Dolphins and Saints clash will take place at Wembley Stadium, a week after the Jaguars shocked the Ravens 44-7 at the same stadium. The Wolf can’t see an upset here, especially when you look at how both teams performed in Week 3. The Dolphins were almost kept scoreless (other than a garbage time Devante Parker TD) by the battling New York Jets in their 20-6 loss. It’s hardly the sort of form you want to be taking over to London against the Saints high-powered offence. The Saints were extremely impressive in their 34-13 road win over the Panthers, with Saints QB Drew Brees throwing three touchdowns and wide receiver Michael Thomas finishing with 7 for 87 and a TD. The Saints are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following an ATS win and should have too many points for the Dolphins, who have scored 19 and 6 in their first two games this season.
Best: New Orleans -3 ($2)

Carolina @ New England – (Mon 4am)
The Panthers have made a 2-1 start to their season, but it’s hardly been convincing. Quarterback Cam Newton has struggled through the first three weeks and was awful in the 34-13 loss to the Saints in Week 3, throwing three interceptions and was sacked four times. He simply can’t be trusted in this match-up against the great Tom Brady. Brady and Brandin Cooks combined for a clutch TD moment to give the Patriots a come-from-behind 36-33 victory, capping off a strong performance including 5 TD passes. The Panthers defence was shredded for 34 points by Drew Brees last week and can expect a similar fate by future hall of fame quarterback Brady. The Patriots are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a win and will fancy their chances against a Panthers side that has scored a combined 22 points in their past two games this season.
Best: New England -9 ($1.91)

Oakland @ Denver – (Mon 7:30am)
The Raiders were completely inept in their 27-10 loss to the Redskins in Monday Night Football and face a tough road trip to Denver this week. The Raiders could only manage 128 total yards against the Redskins and won’t get many tougher match-up than the Broncos defence. The Raiders are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games in Denver and 2-8-1 in their last 11 against the Broncos.
Best: Denver -3 ($2)

Indianapolis @ Seattle – (Mon 11:30am)
The Seahawks have made a disappointing 1-2 start to the season, but The Wolf is expecting this to be a great bounce back spot for Russell Wilson’s men against a Colt side which is still missing Andrew Luck. The Seahawks are 41-21 ATS as home favourites since 2007 and get a massive advantage playing at CenturyLink Field. They’ve struggled to score points this season (21 in their first two games) but it was pleasing to see them post 27 points on the road at Tennessee. Many will argue that Wilson was forced to throw the ball due to the game script, but he finished the day with four touchdowns and will take confidence into the clash with the Colts. The Seahawks defence gave up 33 points to the Titans in Week 3 and will be determined to give Jacoby Brissett a torrid time in Seattle. It’s a big line, but The Wolf would rather be trusting the Seahawks at home than the Colts on the road. The Colts are also 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a win.
Best: Seattle -13 ($1.91)

Washington @ Kansas City – (Tues 11:30am)
The 3-0 Chiefs will host the 2-1 Redskins in a mouth-watering clash to wrap up Week 4 of the NFL. The Redskins are coming off a strong 27-10 win over the Raiders, limiting Raiders QB Derek Carr to just 118 passing yards. Meanwhile, the Chiefs continue to impress, but no one more than rookie running back, Kareem Hunt, who has taken the NFL by storm. Hunt rushed for 172 yards from 17 attempts and scored another TD (v Chargers) to take his tally to six touchdowns in the first three weeks. The Chiefs have won their last six games against the Redskins dating back to 1992, while the Redskins hate Monday Night Football with a 1-6 ATS record in their last 7 Monday games. The Chiefs are also 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and should be able to cover the TD start here.
Best: Kansas City -7 ($1.95)
