College Football Playoff National Championship
Alabama Crimson Tide v Georgia Bulldogs: Tuesday 12:45pm AEDT at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia
It will be an all-SEC affair when Alabama and Georgia clash for the College Football National Championship. It will be the ninth time in the last 12 seasons that a SEC team will take out the national title. The Wolf is taking Georgia +3.5 as his bet bet in the National Championship game.
The fourth-seeded Crimson Tide produced a strong defensive effort in the Sugar Bowl to knock out No.1 seed Clemson by 24-6 and will be looking to shutdown the running game of the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs had 317 rushing yards in their thrilling 54-48 double-overtime win in the Rose Bowl over the Oklahoma Sooners. Running backs Sony Michel (11 carries, 181 yards, 3 TDs) and Nick Chubb (14 carries, 145 yards, 2 TDs) shredded the Sooners’ defence and will be looking to find holes in the Bama defence. The Crimson Tide limited the Tigers running back to just 64 rushing yards from 33 carries. The Bulldogs will definitely present a greater challenge. Alabama also has their fair share of injury concerns heading into the the National Championship but none bigger than the loss of influential linebacker Anfernee Jennings. The Crimson Tide will also be without right guard Lester Cotton Sr, while outstanding safety, Minkah Fitzpatrick has been reported to be dealing with a kidney injury which could limit his effectiveness against the Bulldogs. The loss of Jennings should allow Georgia QB Jake Fromm plenty of time in the pocket and will allow a balanced attack if Alabama goes all in to shut down the Bulldogs’ running game. It will come as no surprise that Alabama QB Jalen Hurts holds the key for the Crimson Tide. It will be up to him to make some plays through the air and has a pretty good weapon in exciting wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Hurts will also be a dual-threat with his running game and it will be imperative that the Bulldogs defence puts his under plenty of pressure. The Bulldogs will also have the advantage of the game being played in Georgia, while their coach Kirby Smart was the former defensive coordinator of the Crimson Tide. Georgia is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall, while Alabama is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games. The Wolf is sticking with the underdogs here. The loss of Jennings is a massive blow for Alabama, while the running back duo of Michel and Chubb will look to tire out the Bama defence by moving the chains and keeping them on the field. The +3.5 start for the Bulldogs is the way to play this one in what should be a tight National Championship game.
Recommended Bet: Georgia Bulldogs +3.5 ($1.90)
