CFL Preview: Week 5
Calgary @ Winnipeg: Calgary -5 ($1.90)
Calgary have opened the season in solid betting form with two covers from three appearances. They were very good in their last outing against Ottawa, a 26-all draw. The Stampeders have won four straight against Winnipeg and covered 7 of the last 10. The Blue Bombers have failed to cover two games at home this year and this is their toughest test.
Ottawa @ Saskatchewan: Ottawa -5.5 ($1.91)
The Redblacks have disappointed nobody this year, backing up their surprise Grey Cup showing last season with an undefeated start to the 2016 season. Ottawa have now covered 8 of their last 9, including 3 of 4 this year. Saskatchewan have covered just 7 of their last 30 and are struggling with their big offseason change.
Hamilton @ Edmonton: Hamilton +4.5 ($1.90)
The Ti-Cats have covered both road games this season and can make it three against Edmonton. The Eskimos’ defence has been very worrying and they failed to cover any of their two at home this year. Hamilton struggled to get any offense going in their big win over the Als but showed why they have the best special teams in the CFL.
Montreal @ Toronto: Montreal +6 ($1.90)
Montreal have covered 3 of 4 against Toronto and look well positioned again despite an inauspicious start to the year. The Argos have failed to cover their two home games this year while the Als have their only cover on the road. In what should be a grind, the points are the bet.
Best: Ottawa -5.5 ($1.90)
