AFL Preview Round 9: Crows v Bulldogs

Round 9 gets underway in Adelaide on Friday night, with the Crows taking on the Bulldogs. The Crows fell agonisingly short in the Showdown last round, after a bit of Motlop magic with 20 seconds to go, while the Bulldogs clung on against the Lions to triumph by 14 points. This game is shaping up to be a high-scoring affair on the fast deck at Adelaide Oval, although the Crows were dealt another injury blow with the news forward Mitch McGovern will miss several matches with an ankle injury injured in the last seconds of the game last round. Can the Crows rebound and continue their climb up the ladder or will the Doggies record their fourth straight victory?

Adelaide (LWWWL) – The Crows were on cruise control during their three-match winning streak before they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory last round in the Showdown. The injury toll hasn’t improved much, with 8 First-Team players currently in the rehab group- with 4 of those hamstring related. Promisingly for Don Pyke, players such as Seedsman, Ellis-Yolmen and Greenwood have really stepped up to the plate to fill the sizeable void of missing players like Brodie Smith, Rory Sloane and Riley Knight.

Western Bulldogs (LLWWW) – The Doggies, after being slammed at the start of the season for successive 50+ point losses, have now won 3 on the trot. The disclaimer with that stat is those victories have come against 14th, 17th and 18th- and their percentage still sits at a paltry 82%. One player who has stepped up under fire is Jack Macrae, who sits on the 4th line of betting for the Brownlow on the back of averaging 34 disposals, 6.6 clearances and 6 tackles a game this season.

Stats That Matter
– The Dogs are 0-2 ATS away from home this season
– Jack Macrae has had 140+ Fantasy points in his last 3 games
– Adelaide won their last meeting by 59 points
– Josh Jenkins has kicked 17 goals in his 6 matches against the Bulldogs
– The Crows are 13-7 ATS in their last 20 games at Adelaide Oval
– Rory Laird is averaging 34 disposals per game this season

Betting Data

2018 Over-Under: Adelaide- 3-5; Western Bulldogs- 3-5

What To Expect

The Wolf is expecting the Crows to return to form in a high-scoring encounter. The Doggies may have finally got back on the winners list, but none of those wins were either particularly impressive, or against particularly good sides. Crows by a fair few.
