AFL Preview Round 17: Kangaroos v Swans

North Melbourne will take on Sydney on Sunday afternoon at Etihad, in a match that is crucial for both sides in the hunt for Finals footy. The Swans have lost two in a row and are sitting outside the Top 4 and they will face the Roos, who beat them on their own turf earlier in the year. North simply must win these games if it is to return to September, and you can be assured they will put in a hell of a fight against a desperate Swans side.

North Melbourne (WLWLW) – They were the equal 2nd favourite to record the most losses in 2018, so it really has been a remarkable coaching performance by Brad Scott to get the Roos to a 9-6 record and within sight of the 8. While the midfield is more blue collar than white collar, it has certainly been measuring up against the more fancied opponents, and the stingy defence has kept them in games they aren’t expected to win. They may not make finals, but they are certainly heading in the right direction after a few brave list/recruiting calls.

Sydney (WWWLL) – Their form has been so hard to gauge this year, something we haven’t associated with the Swans for a long time. Injuries have hurt, no doubt, but the lack of run from the midfield has been the more alarming- sides are making Hannebery, Parker and Kennedy look like old men! Buddy has been immense, as always, but they have been so Buddy-centric of late that kids like Hayward, Florent, Ronke and McCartin aren’t hitting the scoreboard like they should be. It’s making them very predictable and easy to pick off.

What To Expect

Wolf knows one thing, and that is to never write a club like the Swans off- but the price for the Roos is too good to ignore here. They have the tools to challenge the Swans, and are always good at Etihad. Either team under 15.5 ($2.60) is a tempting proposition, but Wolfie likes the Roos to upset the Swans.
