Brazil 2016: Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
The Wolf previews all the events for the women’s artistic gymnastics for Rio 2016.
Women’s Team All-Around
The US have won gold or silver at the last three Olympic Games and are $1.05 to repeat their London efforts in Rio. They have a star-studded team that includes Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas that has won the last two World Championships in a canter. They won’t be losing.
Bet: USA ($1.05)
Women’s Individual All-Around
Simone Biles has been virtually unbeatable in the All-Around winning gold in the 2013, ’14 and ’15 world champs as well as the 2016 Pacific Rim championships. She is the queen of the floor exercise and the floor and shapes as being one of the stars of Rio.
Bet: Simone Biles ($1.34)
Simone Biles goes in a marginal outsider against Beijing gold medallist Hong Un-Jong. The North Korean starts favourite but is 27 now – ancient for a gymnast – and was beat in the 2015 world champs. Biles has medalled at the last three world champs and this is the best price we will get about the emerging champion.
Bet: Simone Biles ($2.50)
Women’s Uneven Bars
A difficult event to get a grip on – shown by the result of the last World Champs when there was an historic four-way gold medal tie. The pick looks to be Russian Aliya Mustafina, who won the gold in London and claimed the title in the 2015 European Games.
Biles has dominated the beam over the last two world champs, winning by over one full point. This isn’t her best event but it is the one she has improved the most at over the last 24 months.
Bet: Simone Biles ($1.70)
Women’s Floor Exercise
Simone Biles has not had anything resembling competition in the floor exercise since she entered senior competition in 2013, winning three straight world championships in the event. This will cap a magical game for the reigning US Olympic Athlete of the Year.
Bet: Simone Biles ($1.53)
